MEANING:
O pleasant faced God with one tusk, one who is reddish black,
Who has elephant ears, has a very broad paunch, who punishes his enemies,
God who is the remover of obstacles, who is a leader, who removes obstacles

One who is the color of smoke, who is the leader of an army, who has crescent on his forehead,
One who walks like an elephant, who has a broken tusk, who has broad ears,
One who stays close to Lord Shiva, who is also the elder brother of Subrahmanya

Person who reads, hears and remembers these sixteen names, at the commencement of education,
during a marriage ceremony, when going or coming back from a journey,
during war or any other time, will never face any difficulties and will always attain victory

सुमुखश्चैकदन्तश्च, कपिलो गजकर्णकः ।
लम्बोदरश्च विकटो, विघ्ननाशो विनायकः ॥
धूमकेतुर्गणाध्यक्षो, भालचन्द्रो गजाननः ।
द्वादशैतानि नामानि, यः पठेच्छृणुयादपि ॥
विद्यारम्भे विवाहे च, प्रवेशे निर्गमे तथा ।
सङ्ग्रामे सङकटे चैव, विध्नस्तस्य न जायते ॥

Sumukhaścaikadantaśca, Kapilo Gajakarṇakaḥ |
Lambodaraśca Vikato, Vighnanāśo Vināyakaḥ ||
Dhūmaketur Gaṇādhyakṣo, Bhālacandro Gajānanaḥ |
Dvādaśaitāni Nāmāni, Yaḥ Paṭhecchṛṇuyādapi ||
Vidyārambhe Vivāhe Ca, Praveśe Nirgame Tathā |
Sangrāme Sankate Caiva, Vighnasyatasya Na Jāyate ||
