Scientific Power of Namaste

The word Namaste is formed by joining two words, ‘Namah’ and ‘Te’. Namah means ‘to bow’ and Te means ‘to you’. Henceforth, the literal meaning of Namaste is ‘bowing to you’. It is frequently used as a form of greeting another person. When one joins the hands for Namaste, certain pressure points are pressed which are very helpful in maintaining a healthy body and mind. 

Benefits of Namaste

  1. Since it is a contactless greeting, there is no fear of exchange of germs
  2. Joining hands in Namaste, presses the important pressure points, keeping it healthy and active
  3. The activation of energy by pressing the Agya Chakra (Third Eye), it helps to remember the name of the other person for a longer period of time
  4. It helps in increasing humility and reducing ego in a person as they bow to the other in respect and salutation
  5. By doing Namaste we receive subtle frequencies emitted by the learned person. It also helps us receive their blessings in subtle form, thus accelerating the spiritual progress.
  6. Namaste activates the Swadhishthaan (Third Eye Chakra). Henceforth, it unknowingly impresses the virtues and capabilities of the Saint or God upon ones mind. Consequently we start emulating them, thus changing ourselves for the better in the process.
  7. Every step of the process, activates the energy centers in the body helping to absorb the positive energies easily

Steps for doing a proper Namaste

1)  Join the fingers and palm together. Keep them comfortable instead of very stiff. This activates the Annahat chakra, opening the doors for good vibrations to enter the body easily through the heart as well as the head.

2) Bend the body forward which applies pressure in the mid section. This activates the energy centers and makes the person more sensitive to accepting the positive energy.

3)  Bring both the thumbs to the center of the eyebrows, activating the Aagya chakra. It also helps in remembering the person in front for longer period of time.

4)  Rest your folded hands in the center of your chest. Let the wrists touch the Heart Chakra.

Namaste should be practiced often, as it keeps the body – mind – soul healthy. The different steps involved in Namaste, is a gentle form of exercise for the body. It activates the energy centers helping in keeping the mind sharp and active. It also keeps our ego in check for a humble and respectful attitude towards all living beings.
